Tight budget?

Here's how you can make your book dollars go further at De Anza:

Zero Textbook Cost Pathways

You can complete a full degree or certificate without paying for required textbooks when you choose the designated Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) sections. These pathways are available now, including several associate degrees for transfer (ADTs):

  • Communication Studies 2.0 for Transfer (AA-T)
  • Data Science (COA)
  • Global Studies for Transfer (AA-T)
  • Kinesiology for Transfer (AA-T)
  • Mathematics for Transfer (AS-T)
  • Political Science for Transfer (AA-T)
  • Project Management Practitioner (AA, COA Advanced, COA)
  • Psychology for Transfer (AA-T)

Zero and Low Textbook Cost Classes

Many classes use course materials that are free or cost $50 or less. Search the Class Schedule and look for the label in the Class Info column, or use the Filters to show only these classes.

Labels can change by term, so open the class details and confirm the required materials for that section before you register. The ZTC Student Hub walks you through each step.

Course Reserves

Some textbooks or other books required by instructors can be borrowed for short periods from the Library at no cost. Search the Library catalog under "Course Reserves."

Bookstore Rentals

Many textbooks can be rented from the Bookstore, at lower cost than purchasing them outright.

DASG Textbook Exchange

The DASG Textbook Exchange is a public Facebook group, created by the Student Rights and Services Committee of the De Anza Student Government (DASG). Individuals can post titles or photos of used books they want to sell or trade.
