Rebecca A. Sherwood, DNSc, RN


As Lead Instructor for N85A/N85AL at De Anza College, Rebecca has been teaching Psychiatric Mental-Health Nursing for the past 32 years.  She is co-founder and Past-President of the California Chapter of APNA (the American Psychiatric Nurses Association), and is the recipient of APNA's Distinguished Service Award.  In addition to being an instructor at De Anza, she has served as Assistant Director of the Nursing Program and, during her long career in nursing, has held positions as staff nurse, research coordinator, and support group leader.  Her career spans more than 44 years and includes work as an RN in Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, California, and Vienna, Austria.

She earned her DNSc. (Doctor of Nursing Science) degree at Boston University and both M.S.N. and B.S.N. degrees at the University of Florida.  She began her career by graduating from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia.
