Current Work
May 2024-Spring 2025: Flint Center Demolition
NEW Flint Center Drop-Off Area Closed
The passenger pickup and drop-off area near the Flint Center is temporarily closed because of demolition work, beginning Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, and continuing in winter quarter 2025.
- Please use the alternate drop-off areas in Staff/Student Lot A outside the Registration & Student Services (RSS) Building, or in Lot C between the L Quad and PE complex. (See campus map.)
- You can still park in the Flint Garage, but the road between the Flint Garage and Flint Center will temporarily be narrowed to one lane, which will also be used by construction vehicles.
The Sunken Garden and the walkway in front of Flint Center are temporarily closed for safety during demolition work, effective Monday, Oct. 7, 2024.
- Drivers can still use the passenger drop-off area between the Flint Center and East Cottage, but their passengers will be required to walk around the Sunken Garden to reach the rest of campus.
- The closure will remain in effect until January.
Activity: Contractors began demolition work during summer 2024, with work expected to continue through the 2024-25 academic year.

- Impact:
- Sunken Garden and area around Flint Center closed
- Passenger drop-off zone closed
- Lot J is unavailable for parking
August 2024-June 2025: Beach Volleyball Project
Activity: Contractors began building a new facility for Beach Volleyball competition, with work expected to continue through June 2025.
- Location: Southeast corner of campus, on the former softball field site
- Impact:
- The pathway between the Football/Track Stadium and the Soccer and Softball fields
will be closed from mid-November through March 14, because of construction for the Beach Volleyball facility.

- Signs marking a temporary detour to the Kirsch Center will be posted for those walking from the center or northern part of campus. The detour will lead through Parking Lot E.
- ADA parking in Lot D will be diverted to Lot E

- During baseball games, spectators will be directed to park in Lots C or D and use pathways to the Baseball Field.
- The pathway between the Football/Track Stadium and the Soccer and Softball fields
will be closed from mid-November through March 14, because of construction for the Beach Volleyball facility.
Past Activities
August-September 2024: L-1 Roof Replacement
Activity: Contractors were demolishing and replacing the roof on Building L-1
- Location: L-1 Building
- Impact: There will be some noise during demolition and limited pedestrian access during the project
Friday, Aug. 23: Firefighter Training at Flint Center
Activity: Firefighters assisted with opening locked doors in the Flint Center as a training exercise
- Location: Flint Center
- Impact: No campus disruption is expected
Monday-Tuesday, June 17-18: Elevators Offline in Baldwin, A1 and A3
Activity: Contractors were working on building management systems around the Flint Center
- Location: Area near Baldwin Winery, A1 and A3 buildings
- Impact: Elevators may be out of service temporarily
Tuesday-Thursday, June 4-6: Tree Removal on East Side of Flint Center
Activity: Contractors used a large crane to remove trees so they don't become unstable or pose a safety hazard during work planned in coming months.
- Location: East side of the Flint Center, near Building A-9
- Impact: No closures of buildings or walkways are expected
Friday, May 31, 2024: Power Shut-Off for A Quad, Flint Garage
Activity: Contractors were working with power connections to Flint Center and adjacent sites
- Location: A Quad, Flint Garage, A-8 facilities plant
- Impact: Power to the affected areas may be turned off for about six hours, from 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Feb. 7-14, 2024: Haz Mat Survey for Wi-Fi Expansion Project
Activity: A district contractor was conducting a survey for hazardous materials in campus buildings to support Phase 1 of the Wi-Fi expansion project.
- Location: Buildings include Campus Center, MLC, ADM, Flint Garage, Forum, PE1, PE2, PE 6, L2, L6, L7, MCC, VPAC, S1, S3, S4, S7, S8, SC1, SC2, SC3, CDC2, CDC 3, Kirsch Center
- Impact: No disruption is expected
