Winter 2024 Classes
Winter classes at De Anza will be a mix of fully online, hybrid, and fully in-person. Apply now for Winter or check the Winter schedule of classes. Note that Canvas sites for most classes will become available by Monday, January 8. Use your MyPortal login credentials (8-digit college ID and password) to get started!
Important Note for Zoom Users
Students don't need to use the Zoom app to join class meetings--you can join through your web browser. But if you do have the Zoom app installed on your computer or mobile device, you should keep it updated. If you attempt to join a Zoom meeting and are prompted to update your Zoom app, please do so. If you are unable to update your Zoom app immediately and are given the opportunity to join through the web client, take that option and update your Zoom app as soon as possible.
Tech Support
You can get technical help with Canvas, Zoom, MyPortal and other online learning tools or software from De Anza College Library Technicians. Use the form on the Computer Lab's webpage to request help.New to Canvas?
Canvas provides an online classroom with tools for accessing lectures, assignments, and tests, depending on what your instructors choose to use.
A modern computer with updated Web browsers (Firefox, Edge, Chrome, or Safari) and an Internet connection is all you need. There's also a Canvas student app that allows many but not all Canvas features to be accessed. There are step-by-step Canvas Student Guides that show you how to perform common tasks in Canvas, from changing your profile to submitting an assignment.
New to Zoom (aka ConferZoom)?
Zoom is Web conferencing software that allows you to meet as a class or individually with your teacher over the Internet. Meetings are sometimes recorded and available for later viewing.
Within Canvas: Some teachers will direct you to access Zoom meetings from within your Canvas course. Look in the course navigation buttons on the left for Zoom.
Outside of Canvas: Your teacher may send a link for a Zoom meeting to you through email. If they do, click on the link before the meeting is scheduled to start to join. You may be prompted to download the Zoom application. Do so. Read the Zoom quick-start guide for students (outside of Canvas) for instructions
