Our counselors and advisers are available to assist you and to answer your questions on a variety of topics, including graduation and degree requirements, educational plans, academic progress and probation – and more.
You can speak with a counselor or academic adviser in person or by phone, email or Zoom video. Look under "Find the Right Counselor For You" below, then follow the step-by-step instructions to find your counselor's webpage, where you will see information about how to reach them.

New Students (First Two Quarters)
If you're in your first or second quarter at De Anza, start by seeing a counselor in the Office of Outreach – unless you're an F-1 visa student.
- F-1 visa students should always see an International Student Programs counselor.
- Remember to complete Orientation. It's an important step toward qualifying for priority enrollment.
Continuing Students
If you've completed at least two quarters, and you're not in a program or Learning Community with its own counselors, the General Counseling and Advising Center can assist you with planning and achieving your academic, career, transfer and personal goals.
Designated Majors

Math Performance Success
If you are participating in the Math Performance Success (MPS) program, you can see an MPS counselor.
Pride Center
If you're an LGBTQ+ or BIPOC student, you can see the Learning Communities counselor.
Rising Scholars
If you are in the Rising Scholars program for students who were previously incarcerated or involved in the legal system, you can see Counselor Jesus Ruelas in the Office of Outreach.
Veterans, Reservists or Military Dependents
If you are a military veteran, reservist or a military dependent attending college on veterans' benefits, you can see a counselor in the Veteran Services Office.

All students are welcome to meet with a Transfer Center counselor or visit the Transfer Center for resources, workshops and answers to your questions about transferring to a four-year university.

All students on academic or progress probation are welcome to meet with the Retention Team counselor or one of the team's student success specialists, for resources and support in returning to good academic standing.
