COVID-19 Testing and Isolation
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is following current guidance from
Santa Clara County and California health authorities, which is summarized on this webpage.
Click each tab to learn what you need to do, if you have
- COVID-19 symptoms
- a positive test result for COVID-19
- or close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
COVID Symptoms
If you develop COVID-19 symptoms
- Isolate: Stay home, avoid others and get tested
- Report, if you are an employee: Use the appropriate COVID-19 reporting form to let the college know so we can take appropriate steps
- If test is negative: Stay home until symptoms improve and no fever for 24 hours
- If test is positive: Stay home at least five days. Wear a mask around others for 10 days. You may resume activities:
- After five days, if a new test is negative and no symptoms and no fever for 24 hours.
- After 10 days, if you haven't taken a COVID-19 test but you have no symptoms and no fever for 24 hours.
Positive Test
If you have a positive test result for COVID-19
- Isolate: Stay home and avoid others for at least five days
- Report: Students and employees should use the appropriate COVID-19 reporting form to let the college know, so we can take appropriate steps
- Wear a mask around others for 10 days
- You may resume activities:
- After five days, if a new test is negative and no symptoms and no fever for 24 hours
- After 10 days if you haven't taken a COVID-19 test but you have no symptoms and no fever for 24 hours
Close Contact
If you learn that you've had close contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19 and you have symptoms, follow the guidance for COVID symptoms.
If you've had close contact and don't have symptoms, follow these steps regardless of your vaccination status:
- Get tested within 3-5 days of exposure
- If symptoms develop during this time, get tested and stay home
- If test is positive, follow the recommendations for a positive test
- Wear a mask around others for 10 days
