Dear De Anza Community,
Thank you to everyone who has engaged with the Leadership System Assessment, including
those who joined the October 6 town hall and the many employees who contributed to
PPL’s work. I want to share what comes next, and then close with some good news about
our students.
Next Steps on the Assessment
As Chancellor Lambert shared, our immediate next step is establishing a De Anza steering
committee. Its charge is to review the draft report and validate it before it is finalized
and publicly released. Specifically, the committee will:
- Review the draft findings and recommendations in context
- Hold stakeholder group sessions to present the findings and gather final community
feedback
- Help confirm that the report accurately reflects what employees shared with PPL in
their interviews and focus groups
The committee will include two representatives from faculty (appointed by Academic
Senate), classified professionals (appointed by Classified Senate) and administrators
(appointed by me). It will begin work as soon as we identify those representatives
in coordination with our shared governance groups. Details on the dates and times
for the stakeholder group sessions will follow.
De Anza Named a Statewide Pathway Champion – Again!
I am also proud to share that De Anza has been named a 2026 Pathway Champion of Placement
by the Campaign for College Opportunity, with statewide honors in both Campuswide
English Success and Campuswide Math Success. This is the third consecutive year De
Anza has been recognized, reflecting how well we help students enroll in and complete
transfer-level English and math in their first year.
This honor belongs to all of you, our esteemed faculty and staff, whose extraordinary
work, passion, and dedication make these outcomes possible. Read the
full story on our website.
De Anza will be formally honored on Thursday, October 22, at Pathway Champions, a
statewide virtual celebration held during National Transfer Week.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and to one another.
Yours in service,
Chris
