Accreditation Reaffirmation for De Anza College – Congratulations and Gratitude
Jan. 22, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that our college just received official reaffirmation of accreditation for seven years by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College (ACCJC). Congratulations on a job well done by our college community and our district, and thank you for all the years of exceptional teaching and student support that led to yet another successful accreditation for De Anza College. I hope you will take a moment to view the official letter as well as report that is now published on our accreditation website.
The college received a commendation for its use of disaggregated data to guide funding, programmatic, and strategic decisions that have led to increased access and success for disproportionately impacted student populations (Standard I.B.6). In addition, the report recommends that the college continue its efforts on regular and substantive interaction (RSI) training for online teaching, which is well underway thanks to our Academic Senate, Faculty Association, our Online Education team, the Office of Professional Development, and the Office of Instruction. We will also continue to partner with our district colleagues to ensure that the district develops a policy review process that meets both district participatory governance expectations while addressing the need to expedite a comprehensive review of district policies (Standard IV.C.7).
Please join me in thanking our Accreditation Liaison Officer and Director of Research, Dr. Mallory Newell, former Presidents Dr. Lloyd Holmes and Christina Espinosa-Pieb, our writer/editor Brandon Bailey, members of the college community that participated in this work including contributions from our Academic Senate, Classified Senate, administrators, and our DASG, and to Chancellor Lee Lambert, Central Services, and the Board of Trustees for their continued support of our collective work at De Anza College.
I know that for our faculty, classified professionals and administrators, your work
for our students is a labor of love. I am proud to have joined you at De Anza College
and commend you for this noteworthy accomplishment.
Sincerely,
Omar
